Strategic Adriatic location
Montenegro sits on the eastern Adriatic, between the established tourism markets of Croatia and Albania, with direct sea access and short flights to major European cities.
Tourism & hospitality
Coastal tourism is a core part of the economy, and the country's positioning has increasingly moved towards upper-upscale hotels, branded residences and marina-led destinations.
Waterfront & luxury residential
Waterfront and marina-adjacent developments along the Bay of Kotor and the Budva Riviera have attracted international buyers and developers.
Mountain tourism
The northern highlands — including Durmitor National Park — offer potential for year-round, nature-led hospitality that complements the summer coastal season.
Renewable energy
Solar and other renewable generation are areas of growing interest, subject to grid-connection capacity and the applicable permitting regime.
Infrastructure, agriculture & industry
Infrastructure, logistics and selected agricultural and industrial opportunities complete the picture, often linked to regional connectivity and port activity.
What matters to investors — beyond the view.
Montenegro offers a strategic Adriatic position, the euro as its currency of payment and significant potential in tourism, real estate, energy and food production — supported by a competitive tax framework.
Foreign = domestic
Foreign investments are treated under the same conditions as domestic investments.
Government agreements
The two governments have signed agreements on economic cooperation and joint investment, including tourism and real estate development.
33 of 33 chapters open
Montenegro has opened all EU negotiating chapters, has provisionally closed the majority and is the frontrunner in the accession process.
The euro
Transactions, pricing and financing in euros — no currency conversion risk for euro-based capital.
